What if Movement was Intentional?

Hi friends,
Lately I’ve been thinking about something that affects all of us—whether we notice it or not:
Most of our movement is reactive.
We move because we’re rushed. We move because we’re nervous. We move because we’re bracing.

We move because we’ve been questioned over and over again, what will people think if you're being squirmy and active? That there must be something wrong with you... something that needs diagnosis. So we assume we have to be still so as to not be judged...
But the truth is… we will always be judged.
People often make a decision about us before we even speak.
Based on posture. Based on stillness. Based on gestures. Based on how we enter a space. Based on movement we learned unintentionally and accidentally which now has been practiced for years, and is telling stories about us we don't mean to tell.
Some research suggests we form impressions in under 6 seconds - and posture and body language play a major role.
That means your body is sending a message constantly… even when you’re saying nothing.
Which brings me to something I can’t stop wondering:
What if movement wasn’t just a reaction… but a choice?
What if we actually learned movement the way we learn communication?
What if your posture, walk, gestures, and use of space became tools you could use on purpose—instead of leaving them to chance?
And what if, by changing your movement, you could influence how people perceive you?
More grounded. More confident. More charismatic. More elegant. More approachable. More powerful.
The answer to those questions is: It IS possible to change how others perceive you, AND how you perceive yourself, simply by practicing Intentional movement.
You can be seen as confident, shy, anxious, dapper, awkward, or magnetic… just by the way you move—before anyone knows anything else about you.
That’s not about “faking it.” It’s about embodying the version of yourself you want to lead with.

Introducing My New Workshop…
Embodying Identity: Create who you want to be through movement
I created this workshop to give you a foundation in:
body awareness
movement exploration
self-reflection
movement principles + practices
kinesics (body language)
the body-mind connection
So you can take more control of your movement… and therefore take more control of how you are seen and received.
This is an 8-class series, and we’ll build week by week into real tools you can use in everyday life.
This workshop is perfect for you if you want to:
make a memorable impression
feel more confident walking into a room
stop feeling awkward in your body
strengthen your presence in work, teaching, leadership, or life
understand what your body is communicating
learn practical movement tools you can actually apply
And yes—this is AMAZING for actors, too. If you’re an actor, performer, or theatre artist, this workshop will help you build physical choices for character development, including repeatable movement practices you can draw from anytime.
Want to join the workshops?
If you’re curious, I’d love to have you. This workshop will be happening in Monroe, CT and runs from February 7- March 28 on Saturdays at 10 am. Details are in the link, or through the QR code below:

I can’t wait to explore this with you— because the way you move isn’t just movement.
It’s identity.
It’s communication.
It’s presence.
What’s your next move? Michelle
